Noise Pollution

 

In this modern technological world, various kinds of pollutions are exposing human being to great health hazard. Noise pollution is one of them. Pollutions are mostly the output of continuous technological advancement of the world for making human life comfortable. Noise pollution or sound pollution is not beyond them. Science has given man dreamy life with the blessing of motorized vehicles like bus, truck, launch, steamer, train, plane, rocket, sound amplifier, diesel engines and so on. All these are producing acute sound that is beyond man’s tolerable limit. This excessive sound is causing serious health hazard. According to World Health Organization (WHO), generally 60 dB (decibel) noise can damage a man’s hearing ability temporarily and 100 Db may cause complete deafness. But it is estimated that the sound of vehicles is 95 dB, loud speaker 90 to 100 dB and factories 80 to 90 dB, restaurant and cinema halls 75 to 90 Db, festivals 85 to 90 Db. However, noise not only creates hearing problem but also causes different mental and physical illness among the people. It causes high blood pressure, tachycardia, headache, indigestion, peptic ulcer and also affects sound sleep. People living in the midst of acute sound often become aggressive and psychologically imbalanced. Noise pollution is a worldwide problem and it is not easy to remove this overnight. For this, first of all, mass people should be made aware that excessive noise may cause deafness and irreversible diseases. Prevailing laws relating to anti-pollution and noise pollution should be enacted and enforced. Use of microphone, loudspeaker, hydraulic horn and other sound producing instrument should strictly be regulated. In fine noise pollution negatively affects both the lives of human and animals. It can also create environmental hazard. So we all should be aware of not being the cause of this pollution of any kind.
