Celebrating Pahela Boishakh
Last year I, with some of my friends, celebrated Pahela Boishakh enjoying different functions at Dhaka. Early in the morning I got myself prepared wearing traditional dress pajama and panjabi. First, we went to Ramna Batamul where country’s largest function to welcome the day is held. We enjoyed ‘Barshabaran’ presented by chhayanat for about two hours. We also ate there our traditional food panta bhat with fried hilsha and green chilli. I never thought such an ordinary food may be so delicious. Next, we went to Bangla Academy. A cultural function was being held there. For a long time we enjoyed our traditional folk songs by the leading artists of the country. At afternoon, we went to Shilpakala Academy and visited Boishakhi mela there. I purchased some toys and attractive food for my younger brother. We also rode Nagor Dola and enjoyed puppet show. Suddenly we noticed that the sky was getting cloudy and a storm was about to blow. At once, we started for home. The memory of that Pahela Baishakh will remain fresh in my mind for a long time.
