A Village Doctor
A village doctor is a simple physician serving people, especially in the rural areas. He is a very familiar figure in the village and a part and parcel of social life and culture. He is neither a well-qualified doctor nor is he capable of giving treatment to serious patients. Yet, he is the only support to the villagers falling prey to different health hazards. Village people are always deprived of proper medical care by an MBBS doctor. Moreover, most of them are poor and unconscious of their health care. These are the reasons why village doctors have become an indispensable part of village life age by age. He is respectful to villagers and they consider him to be their friend all in weal and woe. However, the life of a village doctor is very simple. Generally he sits in his ill-furnished medicine store in the morning and evening. Sometimes he is seen walking along the village path carrying a first aid box with a hope that someone calls him to get treatment. He does not charge extra fee for his service except cost of medicine. To the educated section of people a village doctor is known as quack as there is example that his mistreatment has led a patient to death. In fine, whatever service he may render, he plays a great role by medical service to lower class people.
