May DAY/International Workers Day
May 1st is recognized as May Day or International workers Day. There is a glorious history behind the day. Common workers were agitating in demand of minimum wage, safety laws and eight-hour workday. On May 3, 1886, police fired into a crowd of strikers at Chicago city in the U.S.A. killing at least one striker and seriously wounding some others. Since that historic event, May day came into being which commemorates the historic struggle of the working people throughout the world. Due to the sacrifice of the workers today’s workers are enjoying better working condition, better pay and better lives. So, it is the day to protest inhuman act of the owners and to speak for the due rights of the deprived workers. But the harsh fact is that most of the workers in the world are still ill-paid, ill-clad and half-fed.
